Background.   GreatLife International has a large network of independent distributors in seven countries. The distributors take orders for VIDACELL from their customers and place the orders online with GreatLife who, in turn, ships the product direct. As soon as GreatLife International launched in 2006, Gregg Sturz, President and Founder, realized the need for automated shipping software to streamline the shipping process and expedite the delivery of the orders.

GreatLife ProductGregg didn’t want his employees spending hours a day preparing labels for shipments, he simply wanted a solution that was easy to learn and easy to use. It was actually GreatLife’s U.S. Postal Service® representative who recommended that the company try one of the online solutions endorsed by the USPS®. Out of a number of different products evaluated, GreatLife’s shipping department overwhelmingly chose Endicia.

The DYMO Endicia Solution.   GreatLife International has been a DYMO Endicia customer since July, 2006. While GreatLife International does use private carriers for some shipments, approximately 99% of VIDACELL orders are sent directly to consumers via the USPS. With the lightweight nature of the product, GreatLife knew that the USPS would most likely save the company shipping costs over the private carriers. Unless the distributor specifically selects a carrier at online checkout, GreatLife’s system rate shops between the private carriers and the USPS. Most shipments are selected to be delivered via the Postal Service® since their rates are lower. The free boxes provided by the Postal Service are also a big plus for GreatLife as is the daily afternoon pickup.

GreatLife Product All Postal shipments are prepared using DYMO Endicia software and delivered via Priority Mail. Zebra LP2844 thermal printers interface well with the program and provide a speedy mechanism for shipping labels. The shipping department’s motto is “out the door in 24.” All shipments of VIDACELL are packaged and shipped within 24 hours of the order date with the help of DYMO Endicia’s address book function. Address accuracy is maintained by updating the database daily from the company’s central database insuring that any changes are incorporated in each day’s orders. Kim Bishop, GreatLife Shipping Supervisor, admits that by no means is she a “computer person,” but DYMO Endicia isn’t hard to use.
