How do I print domestic mail in Dazzle?
  1. Configure domestic mail printing templates (ONE TIME PROCESS)
  2. Printing process for domestic mail

Dazzle is Endicia's Windows postage printing application. Dazzle will print the postage, return address, and shipping address. If you have signed up for an Endicia Windows Standard, Premium, or Professional account you will be using Dazzle to print your USPS postage. To get started printing we recommend that you create at least one printing template. Please follow the document below to help you with this process.

Configure domestic mail printing templates (ONE TIME PROCESS)

A printing template is a 'Layout' (.lyt) file created in Dazzle. A layout will save your printer settings, media settings, mail settings, optional features like Stealth or Confirmation, and inserted graphics or text.

You will want to configure printing templates for Dazzle, this will save you time and prevent printing errors. Most users will use between 1-4 domestic layouts depending on the mail class and package type being used.
    Different printing templates are recommended for the following:
  1. Express Mail
  2. Packages (Priority, Media Mail, Parcel Post, Library Mail, and/or First Class Parcels)
  3. First Class Flats
  4. First Class Letters

NOTE: Users who will be printing FROM our partner Postal Mate should contact Postal Mate for assistance. They have created special printing templates (layouts) for Dazzle to use. The steps in this document will work if you are using Dazzle alone for printing. Printing from Postal Mate software will work differently.

  1. Open Dazzle

    Step 1: Open the layout.

  2. File -> Open Layout
  3. Select a (.lyt) file from the 'open layout' window.

    NOTE: If you have a specific label or envelope that you would like to use that is not listed in our recommended layout tables please contact support for assistance. Custom layouts can be created in Dazzle to match most label or envelope sizes. The minimal label size to fit the Dazzle stamp, shipping address, and return address on a single label is 4" wide x 3" tall.

    Step 2: Check your return address.

  5. Layout -> Return Address
  6. Make any needed adjustments.
  7. Click 'ok'.

    Step 3: Configure your printer.

    Endicia Blue or Green Arrow labels (purchased from our store) using layouts "Shipping Label.lyt" or "Express Shipping Label.lyt" will use these settings: Portrait, Face Up, Top First. Select Left Side, Right Side, or Center based on the position of the Endicia label in your printer's tray.

    Step 4: Configure default template settings.

  14. Postage -> Options

    These default settings will open with the template. Set here what you use most often. At print time you can change the settings.

    Most users will use ONE template/layout for all their domestic mail packages; Priority, Media Mail, Parcel Post, etc. They will set the 'Type' window to 'Packages' and the 'Class' window to the mail class they print the most.

  15. Select the package type in the 'Type' window.

    Stealth postage may only be used with tracking; Delivery Confirmation, Signature Confirmation, or Express with a tracking ExxxxxxxxxxUS number. Stealth is not available for First Class Flats or First Class Letters, which do not support tracking. You can add Stealth to your domestic package and Express mail layouts.

      Stealth postage:
    1. Postage -> Options
    2. Click on the 'Premium Service Options' tab.
    3. Click the 'Use Stealth Indicia (hide postage value)' box.
    4. Click 'ok'.
      Your labels will now show the words 'US POSTAGE AND FEES PAID' above the postage stamp instead of the dollar amount.
    NOTE: If your Premium Service Options are grayed out you have a Standard account. You would need to upgrade to use Stealth. Premium service is $15.95 a month. You may e-mail support@endicia.com to request the upgrade. Changes will take up to 1 business day.

    Optional step: Inserting static graphics or text?

      Inserting graphics:
    1. Insert -> Graphics
    2. Select your .bmp or .gif image file.
    3. Click 'open'.

    6. You can click and drag and move the image into place.

      Inserting text:
    1. Insert -> Text Box
    2. Type in your generic text that you want to print every time you print the envelope or label.
    3. Click 'ok'.
    4. Your cursor will now show the word 'paste'. Left click where you want to place the text.
    5. You can click and drag and move the text into place.

    Step 5: Test print

  19. Click 'Print'.
  20. Click 'Test Print'.

    NOTE: The test print will not charge postage.

  21. Cancel the print window.

    Step 6: Save the layout.

  22. File -> Save Layout As
  23. Rename the layout.

    TIP: We recommend adding an underscore to the beginning of the file name, this makes finding the template/layout easier. Most users will be switching between a minimum of two templates, you will want to name your templates accurately to reflect package type or mail class.
    Examples:
    _domestic packages.lyt
    _First Class Flats.lyt
    _Express mail.lyt
    _First Class Letters.lyt

  24. After you enter a new file name click 'Save'.
  25. Repeat the steps in this document to create each layout you will need.

    If the test print fails please contact support by phone or e-mail for further assistance.

To switch between different layouts in Dazzle you will click the 'File' menu and 'Open Layout'. If you use the above steps and recommended naming structure you should see all your layouts grouped together at the top of the open layout window.

    NOTE: If you choose "Endicia Insurance" there are no insurance forms you need to fill out. There is no sign up process needed to begin using Endicia Insurance, simply select it at print time and enter a value in the 'Value' field.

  15. You may use the optional fields 'Group Code', 'Reference ID', or 'Description' to record data in the postage log.
