How do I adjust an integrated (USB or serial) scale for postage price changes? Is there a cost involved?

The weight scale must be able to:

If I insure or register a package for $500.00, do I need to walk it into a Post Office and stand in line, or can I just drop it off at their counter?
1531When you are using USPS insurance, you must take the package into the Post Office and hand the package to a clerk. In addition, you must complete the USPS insurance form 3813 or 3813P.
When using USPS Registered Mail (this has USPS insurance included), you must take the package into the Post Office and hand your package to a clerk. In addition you must complete the Registered Mail label 200 and attach this label to the package.

What is the Intelligent Mail® barcode?
1643The Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb) replaces the POSTNET barcode and is the US Postal Service barcode standard for address data. IMb works with a USPS service called IMb Tracing, which allows Endicia customers to use electronic refunds (e-refunds) for First-Class Mail letters, flats, and postcards. When printing these mail classes, IMb encodes each address with a unique serial number that is registered to Endicia. Although not the same as Delivery Confirmation or Express Mail tracking, this serial number allows Endicia to verify whether or not a letter, flat, or postcard has been entered into the USPS mailstream. This verification process is what allows Endicia to permit e-refunds on mailpieces previously only eligible for physical refunds. E-refunds must be requested within ten days of printing.
Important! The 60-day physical refund process is no longer available for mailpieces featuring IMb.

Q:
|
Does the Intelligent Mail® barcode provide any type of tracking service?
1692No. The Intelligent Mail® barcode (IMb) does not provide an online tracking service or proof of delivery.
The Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb) generates a unique number (0004xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). In the DAZzle Postage Log and in the Trackable Items report under Account Transactions at www.Endicia.com, the IMb is listed as the “Tracking Number.” In Endicia for Mac, the IMb is listed in the details for the Mailing Log entry as the “Confirm Number.” Although this number is sometimes listed in the “Tracking Number” position to be consistent with other package types, it does not actually provide online tracking.
Through a system called IMb Tracing, the USPS scans the IMb with their letter processing machinery at the postal facilities, but the mailpiece will not get a final delivery scan by the USPS carrier. Furthermore, the USPS does not upload the USPS scan status for Intelligent Mail® barcode serial numbers to their online servers at www.usps.com as the USPS does for Express Mail, Delivery Confirmation, or Signature Confirmation numbers.
Even without tracking, there is still an advantage to IMb including a unique serial number: Endicia can verify that USPS scanned this barcode in the mailstream. This allows Endicia to offer electronic refunds for First-Class letters, flats, and postcards, which was not possible with the previous POSTNET barcode.
For more information, see the Refund Policy.
Tip! If you try to look up a tracking number for a First-Class Mail letter, flat, or postcard with IMb at www.usps.com, you will be told that “Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site.” This is normal. Looking up the same tracking number at www.endicia.com/auth will show you a record of the item, including its destination address and whether it is insured, but the package status will display “N/A.”

How do I turn off the postage that prints in the Postage and Fees box on the long 2976-A customs forms for Priority Mail International or Express Mail International?
1520DYMO Endicia offers an option when using DAZzle to turn off printing the postage amount in the Postage and Fees field on the 2976-A (CP72) customs form. This field is a requirement of the US Customs Department, so you must enter the amount manually at the Post Office before shipping your item. This is allowed only for the cases you pay for additional postage, such as USPS insurance or extra services at the Post Office, and thus the amount that the DYMO Endicia software would print would be incorrect.
Note: This option is not available if you are doing any one of the following:
- Printing from the DAZzle Quick Print tab.
- Printing from an XML file.
- Using the Endicia Professional software.
- Using one of the integrated partners who send DAZzle XML print instructions.
The software automatically enters the amount the Postage and Fees section when using the Stealth Postage option. US Customs regulations require that information on the customs forms even though the USPS allows the postage amount to be hidden in the indicia.
The following steps describe how to disable printing the postage amount on your customs form from the Design tab.
Steps
- From the DAZzle Print dialog box, select the Customs Information tab.
- Clear the Fill in Postage and Fees checkbox.
Note: The ability to clear the Fill Postage and Fees check box is only available from the Design tab.

Why can't I select Delivery Confirmation with Media Mail after I upgraded DAZzle?
1526You can use Delivery Confirmation with Media Mail with the Type "Package (Rectangular)". The US Postal Service (USPS) only allows Delivery Confirmation on packages—not Large Envelopes (Flats), Envelopes, or Postcards.
The USPS defines a package as at least ¾-inch thick, so a book in a padded mailer is a package as long as it is at least ¾-inch thick.
DAZzle has been updated to comply with the USPS rules for Delivery Confirmation.
The following Steps describe how to select Delivery Confirmation with Media Mail from the Design tab.
Steps
- From the DAZzle Design tab, click the Postage Options button.

What insurance options are available with DYMO Endicia?
1433You can use USPS insurance, DYMO Endicia Parcel Insurance, or a third-party insurance provider (such as U-PIC) using any of the following software applications:
You can use DYMO Endicia Parcel Insurance with Endicia for Mac.
USPS Insurance:
- Insurance fee charges are added to the postage amount on the label.
- You must take your mailpiece to your local Post Office and complete the proper insurance form.
- To file a claim when using USPS insurance, go to https://www.usps.com/ship/file-insurance-claims.htm.

You are responsible for providing any reports or completing any forms that the third-party insurance provider requires for items that you insure or any claims that you make.
- Note: U-PIC as a third-party insurer is separate from DYMO Endicia Parcel Insurance.

How do I insure a mailpiece using USPS insurance with DAZzle?
1411Mailpieces that use the Intelligent Mail Package Barcode (IMpb), such as packages, no longer require the USPS 3813 insurance forms when you select USPS Insurance. With the correct Service Type Code (STC) embedded in the barcode and a value entered during the label creation process, the USPS has the necessary information available to confirm that USPS Insurance was selected as an Extra Service.
When you select USPS Insurance for mailpieces that do not use the IMpb, such as First-Class Mail Letters and First-Class Mail Large Envelopes (Flats), you must still use the USPS 3813 Insurance forms.
The following steps describe how to use USPS insurance from the DAZzle Design tab.
Note: USPS insurance is not available through DAZzle Quick Print tab.
Steps
- In DAZzle on the Design tab, prepare your postage label.
- Click Print.
- On the Print dialog box, select USPS Insurance, and enter a value for the declared Value.
Note: The insurance fee is added to the postage amount and Includes Insurance Fees appears on the Print dialog box.
- Click Print to print the label.

I cannot see an option for “Package” in the Type menu in DAZzle. What happened?
2133The USPS requires the Intelligent Mail package barcode (IMpb) on all package services. This requirement has caused some restrictions to some layouts that previously could be used with package services without tracking. Package services—such as First Class, Media Mail, Parcel Post, and Library Mail—are required to have the IMpb whether Delivery Confirmation or any special service is used. Examples of these layouts with restrictions include:
- Dymo 30383 Label.lyt
- Dymo 30384 Label.lyt
- Dymo 99019 Label.lyt
- Dymo 99019 with Delivery Confirmation Label.lyt
- Avery 5164 label.lyt
- Avery Double Label (xx63).lyt
- NCR 903165-78.lyt
If you are using a DYMO LabelWriter, you can use the Dymo 30387 Label with Large DC.lyt layout.
If you are using a plain-paper laser or inkjet printer, consider using the Avery 5168 label.lyt layout.

What are the measurement specifications for the Facing Identification Mark (FIM) on a envelope?
1448The Facing Identification Mark (FIM) is a barcode that appears on an envelope in the upper right corner (next to the stamp area) to indicate it has an Intelligent Mail® barcode (IMb) and the type of postage used on the mailpiece. All Intelligent Mail® barcode envelopes should have a FIM.
The FIM must be within 1/8 inch from the top of the envelope. The FIM must start about 2 inches from the right edge (+/- 1/8 inch). The postage indicium (including text) must be at least a 1/4 inch from the top and right edges of the envelope. There is no rule against printing upside down. There is also no rule against aligning the postage to the left of the FIM (in Postage, Options).

Why was my physical refund rejected?
1500Some reasons why physical refunds are rejected include:
- The postage item was never requested successfully for a refund through endicia.com.
- The required refund request form was not printed and included with the postage prints.
- The 2-D indicia postage barcode could not be scanned, such as due to a missing label, partial 2-D indicia postage barcode print, smeared 2-D indicia barcode, faded 2-D indicia barcode, and so on.
- The postage print has a USPS date stamp imprint on the label, indicating it was used to mail a package.
- The postage label was removed from its packaging material.
- The submitted label was a photocopy of label. The original label is required.
Note: If you disagree with the rejection, you can request that the paperwork be returned to you so that you can appeal the refund rejection. You must make appeals directly with the US Postal Service. The US Postal Service has the final say. 1497No. DYMO Endicia is required to keep the Mac and Windows accounts separate.
The DYMO Endicia support staff cannot convert an Endicia for Mac account into a DAZzle PC account or vice versa.
If you use a Mac and Windows computer to print postage through DYMO Endicia, you need two accounts. When you sign up, you select the operating system (Mac or Windows).
If you are switching from a Mac computer to a Windows computer or vice versa, you must:
- Sign up for a new account through the Endicia Web site.
- Close your existing account so the unused postage balance can be refunded to you.

Why is my DYMO LabelWriter printer skipping or advancing blank labels when printing a stamp through DYMO Printable Postage?
1688This problem can be caused by incorrectly loaded labels in the DYMO LabelWriter printer. We recommend that you use genuine DYMO 30915 labels to insure quality.
Press the Feed button. The Feed button is located just below the blue light on the front of the printer. If the label advances one label, then the labels and the printer settings are OK, the issue may be the paper size setting in the program that you are printing from. If a label advances more than one label, the problem may be a label issue.
Verify that the labels are loaded correctly, see Loading the labels onto the spool and into the LabelWriter. (The preceding link directs you to DYMO Support FAQ.)
If this does not resolve the problem, contact DYMO Support:
