Increase Shipping Accuracy with SCAN

Endicia Customer Email NewsletterShipment Confirmation Acceptance Notification, or SCAN, enables you to streamline USPS processing and easily provide proof of shipment to your customers. This feature, available at no additional cost to Endicia customers, helps provide proof that the U.S. Postal Service accepted your daily packages for shipment. With Endicia, you can create a SCAN Form at the end of each day so all of your trackable shipments can be physically accepted by the USPS with just one barcode scan, eliminating the need for the USPS to scan each shipping label. This results in increased accuracy and easy traceability of any package.

How it works

Start by using your Endicia software to create shipping labels and attach those labels to outbound packages. Once you’ve prepared your final shipment of the day (this should be done prior to 8 p.m. Pacific), you can log in to your Endicia account and select the “Tools” submenu under the “My Account” heading. Next, select “Create a SCAN Form” and deselect any shipments you don’t plan to give to USPS (such as labels that need to be refunded). Follow the prompts to complete the process, and once you see the SCAN Form on your screen, you can print it. When a USPS representative picks up your packages—or you deliver the packages to your local Post Office—the USPS representative scans the barcode on the form, and the USPS Package Tracking System is updated with acceptance data (date, time and place of acceptance).
