About Windows Vista, Windows 7 , and Windows 8 Compatibility for New Installations of DAZzle

DAZzle version 9.3.01 and above are Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows 7 compatible versions. DAZzle version 13.3 and later are Windows 8 compatible. New installations of these versions are Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 compatible. The following material applies to Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or later. When installing a Windows Vista or Windows 7 or Windows 8-compatible version of DAZzle, you will be prompted to choose between installing in Shared Mode and Private Mode. The default value is Shared.

Under Shared Mode, all data files will be installed to the standard CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS folder.

Under the Private mode, application data files will be installed to your CSIDL_APPDATA folder, and all your data files will be installed to the CSIDL_PERSONAL folder.

Under Shared Mode:

All data files are installed to the %COMMON_DOCUMENT%\Endicia\DAZzle folder, for example, C:\Users\Public\Documents\Endicia\DAZzle.

Under the Private mode:

Application data files are installed to your %APPLICATION_DATA%\Endicia\DAZzle folder,
for example, C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Endicia\DAZzle.
All your data files are installed to your %PERSONAL_DOCUMENTS%\Endicia\DAZzle folder,
for example, C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\Endicia\DAZzle.

The following registry settings are automatically generated the first time DAZzle is launched:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Envelope Manager\DAZzle\VistaCompliant

(The string value “YES” or “NO” depends on whether anyone has done the Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 transition for the machine.)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Envelope Manager\dazzle\Preferences\VistaCompliant

(The string value “YES” or “NO” depends on whether the current transition has been done for the current Windows login user.)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Envelope Manager\DAZzle\ShareMode

(The string value “Private” or “Shared” depends on which mode you selected during the Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 transition.)

Under Private mode:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Envelope Manager\dazzle\Preferences\AppDataDirectory

(This is the string value of the application data path after Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 transition under Private mode.)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Envelope Manager\dazzle\Preferences\UserDataDirectory

(This is the string value of your data path after Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 transition under Private mode.)

Under Shared Mode:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Envelope Manager\DAZzle\AppDataDirectory

(This is the string value of the app data path after Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 transition under Shared Mode.)
