First Internet Postage Service with Integrated Fulfillment

PALO ALTO, Calif.

Endicia™ announces the availability of Endicia Professional™. Users of Endicia Professional can process orders directly from their database and print Endicia postage-paid shipping labels by scanning a barcode or keying in an order ID. Users can also process their orders in batch by importing, completing, and sorting their order data. Once their shipments have been prepared, users can print an end-of-day Advance Shipping Notice that links all their shipments to one single barcode scanned when the packages are picked up.

Endicia Internet Postage was the first Internet Postage service to provide customers a desktop shipping system with integrated private insurance, hidden postage amounts, International Mail, Electronic Delivery and Signature Confirmation, and a convenient Express Mail solution. The Professional service plan extends Endicia’s service into professional fulfillment environments where integrated shipping tools from private carriers are established solutions. “With their attractive rates, USPS shipping products are a very compelling solution for many fulfillment professionals. However, without the integrated environment already established in this market, the savings in cost would be outweighed by the loss in operational efficiency,” said Harry Whitehouse, president, Endicia. “With Endicia Professional, our customers can take advantage of the cost savings USPS has to offer, without sacrificing the immense operational benefits of the integrated fulfillment environment.”

Major Features

Endicia Professional lets fulfillment operations process orders directly from their database. In these environments, the shipper typically utilizes packing or “pull” slips featuring an integral barcode that represents an internal order number. The system monitors the electronic scale input to weigh the package being prepared; and, based on the order number that is scanned or typed in, pulls the destination address directly from the order database and prints a complete postage-paid shipping label.

Endicia Professional is also used in batch fulfillment operations where users import order files from PayPal, Yahoo, Amazon or other sources. Users can assemble multiple orders, assign different weights or mail classes for each order, and print shipping labels in batch mode. The shipping labels can be printed for all orders or subgroups at a time.

When the day’s packages have been prepared, the shipper pulls up the day’s package roster for review. The shipper may remove packages which were prepared, but will not be shipped (if any). Finally, the shipper prints a PS3152 Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) form directly from their Web browser. This form features a single barcode that links all the shipper’s packages and can be scanned when the packages are presented for pickup.
