How do I fix the error: "Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS with authority 'labelserver.endicia.com'", "Unable to connect to postage transaction server”, or anything referring to SSL/TLS?

 

We recently updated our certificates that were set to expire soon. If you are running an older version of Windows operating system, or if you have not installed all recommended updates, you may have to manually update the certificate locally.

Whom does this affect? Windows users, mostly DAZzle and Endicia Professional (all variations).

Note: The following Steps are general. Depending on your Windows version and your security settings, your specific Steps may vary.

Supported Operating Systems: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 (supported with enhanced compatibility updates expected).

The following Steps describe how to install the new root certificate manually. You may need to contact your IT team for assistance.

  1. Click the following link http://download.endicia.com/VerisignUniversalRootCertificationAuthority.cer or copy and paste URL into a web browser. This should prompt you to download the certificate needed.
  2. Click Download and Run (Open). The Certificate Information window displays an “Install Certificate…” button.
  3. Click the Install Certificate… button. (If you do not see the Certificate Information window or the Install Certificate… button, your machine does not have permission to install any certificates into the windows directories and you will need to contact your IT team for assistance.)
  4. When the Certificate Import Wizard runs, click Next.
  5. Select the Place all certificates in the following store option and click Browse.
  6. Select Trusted Root Certification Authorities and click OK, and then click Next.
  7. Upon completing the Certificate Import Wizard, click Finish.
  8. If a security warning to install the certificate appears, click Yes. You should get a confirmation message that import was successful.
