USPS introduces Priority Mail Flat Rate Precious Cargo Boxes™
Looking for a way to safely ship electronics like smartphones and laptops? The United States Postal Service recently kicked off a six-month pilot test of new Priority Mail Flat Rate Precious Cargo Boxes. These boxes are fitted with foam dots and inserts to better protect what you’re shipping, and they come in three sizes:
- Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Precious Cargo Box—good for shipping smartphones
- Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Precious Cargo Box—good for shipping tablets and medium picture frames
- Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Precious Cargo Box—good for shipping laptops and large picture frames
Shippers using these boxes will be charged Priority Mail Flat Rate rates but will also be charged an additional cost for the actual box—the small box is $6.99, the medium box is $12.99 and the large box is $15.99. At this time, boxes can only be purchased through the Postal Store – find them here.
