About the Import Command

Available in the Address Book, select File > Import to import addresses from other sources into the Address Book. Many applications have an option to export to a delimited text file that DAZzle can import.

Text, Delimited (or Comma Separated Value) ...MORE

Delimited files are text files where each field in a record is delimited—or separated—with a special character. The most common formats are comma-delimited and tab-delimited. Additionally each field might also be enclosed in quotes, or at least the text fields might be. DAZzle can handle all of these variations; all you need to do is select the proper options for your file.

The following example shows field data enclosed in double-quotes and each field separated by a comma:

"John Z","Bestic","","The Country Framer","1152 S Main St","Milton","WV","25541-1222"

"Yolanda","Valle","Director","Healthcare Place","840 N Shore Dr","Chicago","IL","60611-2431"

"Helen","Hubbard","","The Word Mart","16932 Bestija Ave","Hayward","CA","94541-1302"

In the preceding example, fields with no data also include double quotes.

Text, XML format ...MORE

If you have DAZzle Professional, you can import from an XML format text file.

dBase III/IV ...MORE

DAZzle can read and update any file that conforms to the dBase standard. In addition to dBase, many other applications use this format, including Envelope Manager, Act!, and FoxBase. dBase files offer the greatest flexibility with speed and simplicity to import into DAZzle. This setup of these files is nearly identical to that of the delimited files.
