Postage Options ...MOREThe following fields are available in the Postage Options area:
- Type: Select the package type from the list of Types.
- Oversized: Select this option if your mailpiece is Retail Ground (formerly known as Standard Post) or Parcel Select Ground and nonmachinable is selected and your package measures more than 108 inches but not more than 130 inches in combined length and girth.
- Class: Select the postage class from the list of Mail Classes. As you select a postage class, weight, and postage type, the amount at the top changes to reflect your choices. If you imported a customer's order through the Web Store Orders tab, this field is automatically populated if the imported order includes the mail class.
- Non-machinable: Select this option if your mailpiece is a non-standard size and you are using Retail Ground (formerly known as Standard Post), Parcel Select Ground, First-Class Mail, or First-Class Mail International. For current nonmachinable guidelines, see the usps.com website.
- Use retail price: Select this option to force First-Class Mail Parcel retail price and label markings. This option is not available with letters or flats. Typically, parcels that contain documents or personal correspondence must be mailed at First-Class Mail retail prices.
Note: If you have chosen the Type as Package and the Class as First-Class , but the Use retail price check box is not available, you must enable it. For more information, see the Class and Package Options section of the About View Preferences topic.
- Weight: For the mail classes that are based on weight (all but postcard), select the weight of your mailpiece. If you change to a different class of mail, you may have to select a different weight category. If you have an electronic scale attached to your computer, place a mailpiece on the scale and click the Weigh button. (For more information, see Weigh a Mailpiece.) If you are using an electronic scale for the first time, you must click the Scale Setup button. In the dialog box that appears, you can select whether the scale is connected through either the serial port or the USB port as well as the name of the scale.
- Dimensions (Height, Length, and Thickness): Enter the dimensions (to the nearest tenth or eighth of an inch) of your package or envelope in these fields. The system verifies your rate selections to ensure you are paying the appropriate postage rate. Recent postage rates put greater emphasis on package shape. You may be required to pay a higher postage rate than the amount based solely on the package weight.
If your package is not rectangular, enter dimensions that would result from placing the item in a rectangular box.

- Ship Date: The date on a mailpiece MUST be the day that you actually mail the piece. You can set the date ahead by up to 7 (seven) days if you are not mailing today. If you are printing more than one piece of mail to send at a later date, you can select the Remember this check box so the that a date advance will be recalled for your next printing. Extra Services: This allows you to select whether you would like additional signature requirements. If you are printing domestic mail, you can select Signature Confirmation, Adult Signature Required, Adult Signature Restricted, or None, depending on the shipment parameters. If you are printing international mail, you can select E-Delivery Confirmation or None, depending on the shipment parameters.
- Note: Signature Confirmation is not available if you choose USPS Insurance and your mailpiece has a declared value over $500 because a signature is provided at no additional charge.

Insurance: You can select from USPS Insurance, Endicia Insurance, or Third-Party (U-PIC) Insurance.
- Value: This is the declared value of the item that you are mailing. This amount is often required when using one of the US Postal Service Optional Services or insurance.
